MUCH Needed Rain On The Way!

It was another awesome weather day across the area! Yes, it was a little hot, but the humidity has been extremely low, which is why we have seen huge temp swings from the 50's at 6am to near 90 this afternoon. 

Here is a look at the national sat/rad map. Notice there are two storm systems heading our way. 1, a storm system to our south, and 2, a cold front to our west:

These storm systems mean that big changes are about to occur in our weather. However, it does look like we should salvage most (if not all) of our Sunday before the storm system arrives.

For Sunday, clouds will thicken through the day, with a little more sun the farther north you are. It appears that areas across southern Indiana (mainly south of Vincennes/Bedford/North Vernon) have a 30% chance of seeing showers moving in after 2pm. More substantial rain and thunderstorms will move into portions of central and southern Indiana overnight Sunday into Monday.

On Monday, Showers and thunderstorms will be likely, with heavy areas of rainfall possible. However, no severe weather is expected. 

More showers and storms can be expected Monday night into early Tuesday, with the cold front knocking on our door. 

The cold front will exit the state Tuesday afternoon, with drier air bleeding in for the second half of the week. Temps will be seasonably warm, in the 80's. 

How much rain? It's a tough forecast, because areas that get training of heavy rain or storms could easily pick up 1-2" of rain, due to tons of moisture in the atmosphere. That will be a lucky few, however. Most areas will see a good 1/2"-1". While we could use more, this will definitely bring some relief to the extremely dry conditions. Hot Weekend - Stormy Next Week?

Good morning! It's going to be another great day across Indiana! Temperatures will be on the warm side, hitting the middle 80's this afternoon. Despite that, the humidity stays comfortable during the day.

It will be perfect pool weather this weekend! Here's your weekend forecast...

A system across the southern states and a cold front to our west will bring a good chance of thunderstorms early next week. It appears the southern half of Indiana could get as much as 1" of rain during this time, with the northern parts of Indiana getting up to 1/2". Here's your 7-day outlook:

Tracking Some Weekend Heat

Good morning. How about the weather over the past few days? Temperatures all week long have been running in the low-mid 70's, but those temps will start going up, up, up starting today.


Today will be another GREAT weather day, with sunny skies, and low humidity in place. Highs will top out between 80-82 degrees across much of the state. Make those outdoor plans!


The thermometers will continue to go up over the next few days. Highs will hit the middle 80's by tomorrow, then in the range of 88-90 for the weekend. Despite the heat, it doesn't appear that the humidity will be overly high, so at least we won't be talking about crazy heat indices like we had during Memorial Day weekend. Overnight lows will also be warmer, only dropping in the 60's.

Humidity values may spike up for Monday, as warm, juicy air is drawn up from the gulf, and a cold front moves in from the northwest. This should mean a decent chance of storms for Monday and Tuesday. This should also knock our temps back down a bit.

EVENING UPDATE - NICE WEDNESDAY

It's a cool night out there, with temps already falling in the 50's. Some areas northeast of Indy may slip in the upper 40's by daybreak! Here is a look at the low temperatures tonight...

Tomorrow will be similar to today, with morning sunshine, then scattered cumulus clouds take hold during the afternoon. Temps however will be a bit warmer, in the middle to upper 70's. 


Sunshine and warming temperatures will be the rule right through the weekend. Temperatures will go from 80 Thursday, mid 80's Friday, then 86-90 Saturday-Monday.

Pleasant Temps Continue - For Now

Good morning, Indiana! Waking up to a beautiful morning, and it's going to be a great day with sunshine and highs in the middle 70's. Unbeatable for June. Here are some weather headlines....

Warm, sunny days, and cool nights will continue to be the rule through much of the week. It will gradually warm up each day, with upper 70's being the rule the next couple days, with the 80's building in by Friday. This weather will be perfect for just about any outdoor activities, whether it's hitting the lakes, hiking, doing yard work, or just chilling outside. 


This will pave the way for hot weather this weekend, as a ridge moves into the Ohio Valley. High temperatures of 85-90 appear likely, with a gradual uptick in the humidity as well.

After the weekend, it appears a stormier pattern (cross your fingers) may finally move in next week. Check out the GFS rain totals for the next week! It actually looks impressive..

Like I said (keep those fingers crossed) because we REALLY need the rain, and if we don't we will be getting into serious drought conditions later this summer.

Tracking A Pleasant Sunday - More Cooler Temps For Next Week!

June is off and running, with temperatures these first two days of the month feeling more like April! This has caused many folks to get the jackets/sweatshirts back out! What is causing this chilly weather?

A upper-level low is spinning around to our north, which is bringing in a chilly NW flow. The reason for the clouds and isolated rain today was due to a disturbance or "spoke of energy" riding down the edge of the low pressure. You can see the big storm spinning across northern Michigan on the satellite map...

A disturbance riding along the periphery of the upper low brought plenty of clouds today, cool temps, and a few showers. A shower chance will remain in the forecast through midnight, then skies should clear out as we head towards daybreak Sunday.

Our Sunday is looking - picture perfect! We should see plenty of sunshine, and near normal temps close to 80 degrees! Not too hot, not cold, just right in my opinion. :) Make those outdoor plans for tomorrow!

Another disturbance scoots well south of Indiana late Sunday night/Monday...

I will keep a 30% chance of a stray storm/shower Monday, but count on mostly dry weather, with highs Monday ranging from the upper 70's to lower 80's.

Since there will be weak disturbances possibly moving through Tuesday/Wednesday, I will keep a chance of a spotty storm both days, however most of the time will be totally dry, with periods of sun and clouds. Highs look to only hit the middle 70's these days, and if clouds/isolated rain are more dominate than forecast, highs could stay as low as upper 60's/low 70's. Lows will also be below normal, in the 50's.

Thursday-next weekend looks like a dry period, with temps starting to go up again, thanks to a ridge expected to build in. We will go from the upper 70's next Thursday, near 80 Friday, then well in the 80's next weekend.

One thing for sure, we certainly won't be talking about temps being way above normal for the first week of June! Is this the beginning of a pattern change? Hmm. Only time will tell. I do, however, see signs of heat returning mid-month, but it's too early to make any bets yet. For now, enjoy the cooler weather, and let the a/c take a nice break!
