Good evening! Accumulating snow is on the way! Let's get right to it....
I will skip the evening forecast. Just rain showers expected to diminish overnight.
The NWS finally pulled the trigger, and issued the first WINTER WX ADVISORY of the winter season! :) The advisory is in effect for all of central and southern Indiana. Extreme northern Indiana is under a WINTER STORM WATCH.
Now, here is the latest projected timing....
9am-Noon: Light snow/rain develops. Temps in the low-mid 30's.
Noon-3pm: Any mix turns to snow showers. Temps falling from west to east.
3pm-6pm: Widespread snow develops. Snow should start sticking by 4-5pm. Temps falling near freezing, colder west.
6pm-9pm: Snow. Heavy at times. Slick roads/ low visibility. Blizzard-like conditions north of I-70. Temps fall through the 20's.
I know timing is everything! Let's hope the worst of the conditions move in just after the evening commute!!
Bottom line is that the real action is expected to begin late afternoon tomorrow, and the snow falls steady tomorrow night! So if your not seeing snow out your window until late day, don't panic! The main show will come tomorrow night! Travels tomorrow night will become hazardous, and trying to plow the snow will be nearly impossible, due to high winds causing blowing and drifting snow. TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED TOMORROW NIGHT! Several inches will fall north of I-70, with a few inches across southern Indiana. Here is the latest snowfall projection:
Those are the expected totals by Friday afternoon, when the snow tapers off. 2-4" for central Indiana, 1-2", with isolated 3" possible in southern Indiana, 3-5" for north-central Indiana, and 6"+ near Valparaiso, Gary, and South Bend. Keep in mind the snow will continue to blow and drift once it starts falling tomorrow night, so travel will be very hazardous! Another issue will be the frigid temps. by Friday morning, in the teens! That doesn't include the wind chill! Because of all those factors, I expect several school delays, with closings certainly being a possibility in rural areas for Friday.
I will have more updates as needed! Have a great evening!
It is about time!!! Lol. This is Mr. Benson by the way.
