(6/16) Your Week Ahead Outlook!
Good evening everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend and Father's Day! Here's what to expect throughout the week ahead. The best chances of rain for the work week will be later tomorrow through tomorrow night, with a lingering isolated chance Tuesday. There will be lots of dry weather this week, with no rain in the forecast Wednesday-Friday, with slightly more pleasant air on Wednesday, before the humidity starts to creep up again as we head towards next weekend. Next weekend looks quite hot & humid, with some storm chances.

(6/11) Heat & Severe Storms
Quiet weather for today, with sunshine around and temperatures heating up! Expect highs to reach the middle to upper 80's in many areas later today. Good day to hit up the pools, just apply the sunscreen - you will need it!
Storm chances could arrive as soon as tonight, depending on your location. Any storms tonight should stay north of I-70, and they will be isolated. It will be a very warm and muggy night, with low temps only falling near 70.
For tomorrow, it will be a battle between very hot temperatures and storms. From Indy northward, there will be a chance of thunderstorms by tomorrow afternoon, with some possibly severe. Areas south will stay dry and hot. Highs tomorrow should reach the middle 90s in southern Indiana, near 90 central, and cooler middle/upper 80's north due to more clouds and storm activity.
By tomorrow night, everybody will have a good chance of thunderstorms. This could be in the form of a derecho, aka storms producing damaging winds. The highest chances of getting severe weather will be north of I-70, but just about everybody will have at least a chance of severe thunderstorms. Could be a noisy, busy night tomorrow night, so be sure to check back for the latest updates!
Also, parts of the state are going to get very heavy rain
between now and Thursday. Areas north of I-70 could see 1-2" of rain, with perhaps 3"+ in parts of northeastern Indiana. Rain totals south of I-70 should be lighter. However, that could change depending on the actual track of the storm complex tomorrow night.

Some Severe Storms Late Tomorrow?
Today's weather turned out pretty good, with temperatures right around where they should be for June, along with dry weather. Now everyone is asking, will this nice weather stick around for Sunday?
Well, for the most part. All eyes will be on a low pressure system
and an associated cold front to our west. The weather through about mid-afternoon looks good for most areas, with partial sunshine and temperatures warming up quickly towards the lower 80's. By middle afternoon, at first, some scattered thunderstorms in Kentucky could try to push towards southern Indiana. Then, some thunderstorms are possible in the western portion of the state as the system to our west approaches. The SPC has much of the southwest half of Indiana in a slight risk for severe storms tomorrow late afternoon/evening and night. Biggest threats will be high winds and hail. Not looking like a huge deal, but something to watch.
Much of the state should get yet another healthy amount of rain, an inch of rain is likely for much of the state. Some will of course get more, and some may get less.
NEXT WEEK OUTLOOK: It looks like a more typical summer pattern will build in. Scattered thunderstorm chances will start to taper off late Monday, and this should pave the way for some hotter weather to build in between Tuesday and Wednesday. Most areas should reach or exceed 80 Tuesday, then highs of 85-90 are likely on Wednesday. Tuesday will be dry, with thunderstorm chances going up later Wednesday into Thursday. This should cool us down several degrees Thursday, before the heat ridge tries to build closer to the Ohio Valley Friday & Saturday.
I will have more updates tomorrow on my Facebook page. Thanks for stopping by my blog, hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!

Weekend Outlook
Saturday should be a great day to get outside! Expect high temperatures to top out in the middle to upper 70's with partly cloudy skies. There is about a 10% chance of a stray shower, but basically everyone will stay dry.
It is Sunday, especially late in the day when we have to watch out for
some changes to roll in. I think we will be dry through the mid afternoon hours with highs warming near 80. Once we get into the evening hours, some storms could start to work their way in from the west. By Sunday night, showers and storms will be likely for everyone. The SPC has the far southwest portion of Indiana under a slight risk for severe storms Sunday night. The main threats appear to be damaging winds and hail. Something to watch. How much rain are we talking about? It looks like parts of the area could get as much as 1" from these storms.

Memorial Day Storm Chances - Then The Heat Is On!
Just a couple sprinkles on the radar locally right now. Not
too bad out there with a few peeks of sun and current temps warming in the 60's. There is a band of rain/thunder in Illinois, BUT it is weakening as it heads into Indiana. Why? Dry air. Dewpoints in many areas are only in the 40's. If you have plans later this afternoon or anytime this evening, there will be a few scattered showers to dodge, but a good deal of dry weather as well. Just keep an eye on the radar and don't cancel your plans.
MEMORIAL DAY UPDATE
There is still a chance of a few showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, as the warm front begins to push through the area. The highest threat for rain will be across northern Indiana. Due to the position of the warm front passing through, expect a pretty big range in temperatures. Lower 80's for highs tomorrow in southwest Indiana, while northeast Indiana is stuck in the upper 60's. Let's remember the real reason tomorrow for why we celebrate this holiday, thanks to all the brave soldiers for serving our country!
REST OF THE WEEK OUTLOOK

If you love the summer warmth and humidity, you will LOVE this forecast. Highs will reach the middle to upper 80's Tuesday through next Saturday. There will be a threat for a few storms across the northern part of Indiana Tuesday, otherwise mostly sunny and dry through Friday. A chance of storms may return by next Saturday. Expect some great days to get out to the pools, with lots of sunscreen needed! The Climate Prediction Center's 6 to 10 day outlook demonstrates the strong likelihood of above average temps in our part of the world!

Warmth With Showers & Storms - Latest Thoughts On Weekend Forecast
Good evening. Sorry I haven't posted a blog in a while. Today was my last day of high school, with my college courses starting on August 19th, as I begin my journey to *hopefully* become a meteorologist with a geoscience degree 4 years from right now.
Over the past week, we have seen much of the country burst into a more typical weather pattern we would expect for this time of the year, (finally) with a HUGE increase
in severe weather numbers, after a unusual spring of very, very little in the way of severe weather. More severe weather expected over the next several days in the Plains, with a very busy weekend ahead. I'm sure plenty of storm chasers even here locally will probably try to travel out there this weekend. Take a look at the severe weather outlooks for this weekend per the SPC:
Now let's focus on our weather. First off today was actually a pretty nice day - until thunderstorms arrived. Some areas saw them hit earlier than others, and right now most of the thunderstorm activity continues across the northern half of the state. This activity gradually diminishes after sunset, but the chance for a few storms around still exists at anytime overnight, albeit a lower chance. Bottom line -- the radar will be your friend this evening.
Saturday will be another repeat of the weather over the past couple of days. Warm, humid highs near 80, mixed clouds and sun with scattered pop-up storms mainly in the afternoon. Don't cancel outdoor plans, but have a backup plan. Areas that do see a storm could see torrential downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Severe weather is pretty unlikely.
Sunday looks basically DRY. A weak ridge will begin to build into the region, allowing confidence for a drier forecast. With a warm and humid air mass, can't completely rule out a stray storm, but count on a good deal of sunshine and warm to hot weather. Highs in the middle 80's likely.
It looks like we start the work week next week on a H-O-T note. The ridge will still help the atmosphere to stay capped for most of the area, with the only exception being some areas in northwest Indiana. Highs could approach the upper 80's, with 90 not out of the question for Monday. If you have already opened up your swimming pool, you are in luck!
Shower and storm chances really go up after that, with an emphasis on Tuesday and Wednesday. There could be some heavy rain totals. Late next week looks to trend drier, and right now, it looks like Memorial Weekend and Indy 500 coming up could be dry with pleasant temps. Let's hope this forecast keeps up.
