Watching Tropical Storm Debby, Expanding Heat Next Week!

TROPICAL STORM DEBBY has formed in the central gulf of Mexico as of this afternoon. It has sustained winds of 50 mph. Now the question is, where's Debby gonna go? Models are ALL OVER the place, but the NHC is forecasting a track westward, impacting southern Louisiana and much of southeast Texas.

The track however, is not certain yet by any means. Here is a spaghetti plot, or a map showing different tracks of the storm from various models. As you can tell, there is quite the bit of uncertainty!

There will be plenty of rainfall with this system, as this is a slow moving storm so far. Watch out for flooding in the days to come across the gulf coast!

Now let's talk about the forecast here at home. As much as I would love to say there is heavy rain in the forecast, there is not. If your counting, Indy has now gone 19 STRAIGHT days without a drop of rain. Isn't that just incredible!? The forecast looks to feature "more of the same" over the next week.

Hot weather will be the rule for Sunday. Highs in the lower 90's are likely. Drink plenty of water, and seek shade often! If there is good news, there is about a 20% chance of an afternoon/evening storm, with a risk of a couple severe storms north of Indianapolis tomorrow. The heat gets pushed back briefly early next week, with very pleasant temperatures expected to start the work week. However, that will change as we head into the second part of our week. The heat ridge that has produced intense hot weather across the Plains will spread eastward and expand across a good chunk of the country later next week. Nearing 90 next Wednesday, then 95-100 degrees late next week! The map below shows the progression of the heat ridge over the next week.
Thanks for stopping by my weather blog. Have a great night.
