Tracking Rain - Colder Air Coming

Good morning! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. The second half of the weekend sure isn't going to offer great weather, with more rain around. Is it just me, or does it seem like every Sunday over the past month has been rainy?

Today: Rain likely, especially south of I-70 this afternoon. Temps may gradually fall into the upper 40s later today.

Tonight: Scattered showers through midnight, then soaking, heavy rains by the early morning hours.

Extended: Heavy rains will fall on Monday, just causing more and more flooding. Much of central and southern Indiana has now been placed in the risk of excessive rainfall from the HPC:

When all is said and done by Tuesday morning, 1-3" of rain will have fallen in Indy, with 2-4" across much of southern Indiana. Once we get cold enough for snow, all the moisture will be gone, so no snow is in the forecast for the week ahead. However, areas of extreme northwestern Indiana may get in on accumulating snows Monday night. Check out the potential totals:

Areas like Gary, Chicago, South Bend, could get hammered with the snowfall. However, no snow expected for central Indiana. Again, that may is for Monday night. The good news is that sunshine will return for the middle and end of the week, with very cold mornings down in the lower-middle 20's, and highs in the 30s. For now, no snow worries in our future.

Have a great Sunday everyone.
